Maintain Your Good Credit After You Have It Repaired

Tired of having to take out personal bad credit loans?  Too much credit card debt and you wanted to repair it?  Well, with that done it is time to keep that slate clean and keep it clean.  Many people who fall into bad credit and have their credit repaired eventually fall into the same pattern.  Why?  Because they did not bother to educate themselves on the importance of maintaining good credit.

1)  First you need to pay all your bills on time.  Sounds like a simple.  It is not that you are a bad person and don’t want to pay back debts.  Quite the opposite in many cases, you are good, hard working people who may have suffered a decrease in pay or a financial emergency which set you back, or you lost your job.  Putting you behind in your payments and turning your good credit into bad credit.  Now your only option will end up being the bad credit signature loans.

2)  When obtaining a credit line, only take what you know you will be able to afford.  Just because they offer you a huge amount, does not mean you have to keep that amount.  You can call and request a credit line decrease.

3)  Keep your credit card debts managed.  Manage your cards and keep them at a balance just below twenty-five percent of your credit limit.  Also keep in mind the total amount you will be able to pay back each month comfortably.  Keeping your balance over fifty percent will actually decrease your credit score.

4)  Pay your bills using automatic bill pay.  This helps to control your spending.  Since you know your payment is going to be automatically deducted from your account, you are more likely to control yourself.

5)  Keep credit report inquiries down. Don’t just keep applying for new cards just to add to your credit, this will hinder your credit score.  Don’t keep asking all the cards you have for credit increases either.
