How to Buy a New Car with Bad Credit
Buying a car is almost never a pleasant experience, but it can be especially difficult if you have bad credit. Not only are you worried about getting financed, you also have to worry about the quality of the car you are getting. One way to avoid the later is to buy a new car. Here is how to buy a new car with bad credit.
Generally speaking, buying a new car means that you are going to work with a new car dealership. While dealerships do work with people with bad credit, they are not going to be able to finance you if your credit is truly terrible. This means that it is smart to work on credit restoration a few months prior to the time that you know you are going to be applying for a loan.
When you are ready, the first thing that you want to do is call the dealership. Ask to speak to the finance manager. Then explain your situation and ask them what types of aggressive lending programs that they have. Very often, certain dealerships offer fairly aggressive programs because this helps them to sell cars. Once you understand the qualifications, if it sounds like you might qualify, go ahead and apply. Don’t go to the dealership until you know that you are approved and exactly what you can qualify for. This prevents you wasting a bunch of time or falling in love with a car that you cannot qualify for.
If the finance manager comes back and tells them that they are unable to get you qualified, don’t be shy! Find out exactly why and what you would need to do to get in position to qualify for a loan. You can then either take these steps or see if another manufacture has a more aggressive program.
